Scholarship Committee Help Needed

It's that time of year again where Seniors in the performing arts groups at Kamiak can submit their applications/essays and be eligible for one of the eight $1,000 scholarships (and for choir seniors, the additional $500 Anna Bui scholarship) awarded at the end of the year.

The Scholarship committee chair needs 2 parent volunteers from the orchestra, to serve on the scholarship committee. The parents must NOT have a senior in the performing arts! These parent volunteers will be reviewing and scoring all the submitted essays (which are due May 1st).  Each parent volunteer will get copies of the essays with student names removed, and be given a deadline to return them to the Scholarship committee chair with the rubric/scoresheet completed.

KPAB Board Member Positions Available

Our outstanding KPAB team of Kim Ninh , Treasurer, and Bobbi Gustafson, Student Accounts, have
announced that they will not be able to return next year. Kim and Bobbi have done an outstanding job
of keeping track of our revenue, managing student accounts, paying the bills, and all the other action
items, large and small, that required to keep Kamiak Performing Arts Boosters Club running smoothly.
Thank you ladies for a job well done and we wish you well in your next adventures!

With that in mind, KPAB is looking for a set (or two) of capable hands to fill Kim and Bobbi’s ample
shoes. KPAB is seeking candidates for the position of Treasurer beginning at the end of June 2018 and
continuing through the next school year. KPAB is also exploring the possibility of outsourcing some or
most of the routine bookkeeping activities leaving higher-level financial management tasks to be filled;
however, if someone is interested in assuming the role of Student Accounts Coordinator on an interim
basis until those functions are automated and/or outsourced, that would be great!

If you are an enthusiastic and experienced financial person who is interested in any of the following
positions, we would like to talk with you as soon as possible!

1) Treasurer – potential candidate will have experience with financial management of for-profit or
non-profit organizations, including oversight of bookkeeping tasks, preparation of monthly and
annual financial reports, monitoring and reconciliation of bank accounts, receive checks and
cash, making accounting for said receipts, write checks and/or make payments for expenses as
authorized by the Board. Other duties as assigned.

2) Student Accounts – Work with QuickBooks and/or Charms to automate and manage payments
and invoicing for Student Accounts. Coordinate with Treasurer and prepare reports as required.
Other duties as assigned.

3) Are you a financial professional or know someone who is? We are interested in talking with
you about outsourcing some or all of the routine bookkeeping tasks associated with student
accounts. Please contact us to get more information about our needs and submit a proposal!

Spring Musical

THE SPRING MUSICAL IS…SPAMALOT!

The spring musical this year is the Tony Award Winning Best Musical, Spamalot!  Audiences will find their grail and everyone will have the chance of a lifetime to experience one of the greatest musicals of the modern age.  Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and was followed by two successful West End runs.

Show dates are May 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th at 7pm, with a 2pm performance on May 12th.
Preview Performance May 3rd.
Tickets will go on sale April 16th in the Kamiak HS Bookkeeping office.   All seats are reserved.

Tickets:  $15 Adult;  $10 Student/Child/Senior 65+
All tickets for the 2 p.m. Matinee on May 12th are $10 each.
