FALL GUARD

As part of the KHS Show Band, the Color Guard competes in marching band competitions in local, regional and National Circuits. They also participate in parades--the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival Parade is always on the yearly parade calendar. Not only has our Color Guard program seen success with its continued growth but it has also enjoyed winning High Auxiliary/Color Guard in many of its competitions.

While workshops and informal tryouts are held in late May, The Kamiak Color Guard will take anyone with dedication who is willing to work hard!  Our ensemble prides itself on taking anyone who wants to be a part of this award winning program!

The KHS Fall Color Guard Season typically begins with early rehearsals 2 nights a week in July followed by 3 weeks of band camp, typically the last 3 weeks of August. In order to participate in the fall season, it is essential for students to attend band camp. Once school begins, after school rehearsals continue through September with Competitions taking place on the Saturdays in October. The season typically ends with the NWAPA Championships the first weekend in November. The Kamiak Color Guard also performs with the Show Band at all Home Football Games at Goddard Stadium--usually 4-5/year.

WINTER GUARD

The Kamiak High School Winter Guard hosts try-out workshops in November and begins practices in early December.  They compete in the local PPA (Pacific Performing Arts Association) Circuit, the Oregon NWAPA (Northwest Association for Performing Arts) and the National WGI Circuit. The competitions are typically held in February through the last weekend in March. The Kamiak Winterguard Team is composed of High School students who currently compete in the Scholastic A division.

In 2011 Winter Guard Members were regional finalists and made it to the World Championship semi-finals at WGI in Dayton, OH.  They returned to WGI World Championships in 2014 as the only Washington State Guard competing in the Scholastic A Division and placed in the top 100 Guards in the World in Scholastic A.
